Fresh Start: Helping friends transition into a healthy lifestyle through shared cooking

Mapping 1

From these themes, we picked interesting issues and mapped them on a horizontal axis of "control" and "no control." Our subjective assessment of an obese person's levels of control ranged from "genetics" at the "no control" extreme and "exercising" at the "control" extreme. This mapping suggested which issues might be more successfully targeted compared to others.

Mapping issues vs control

We then took these issues from the control axis and placed them in the context of time, considering how much time it should take to effect change. For example, we placed "cultural norms" at the "more time" extreme and "variety in diet" at the "less time" extreme. This mapping allowed us to identify sequences of events and potential opportunities for design solutions.
